Your home tells a lot about you. The same decor arranged differently can project two completely different personalities. Read the following methods for wall design to decide which best suits your personal style. You can find great decor to suit any taste for your home or office at American Home Interiors.

Formal (Symmetrical) Wall Designs

Symmetrical balance is the placement of even patterns.  You can create a focal point in the center with artwork, mirrors, framed prints, a shadow box or other fairly large accessory. You can then use items such as sconces, wall planters, small shelving, smaller accent mirrors or prints to complete your desired look. While there may be a bit of variation when using smaller accent peices such as figurines and florals, the major accessories will be balanced evenly. If you were to draw an imagianry line down the center of a symmetrical wall design, one side of the design should be a mirror image of the other.

Informal (Asymmetrical) Wall Designs

Asymmetrical balance is a more challanging design type to acheive. This method offers a more interesting experience for all who view it but typically is less formal in appearance. The wall design still maintains balance. However, not by identical objects on each side. The focal point of this type of display would be much like what is pictured above. A large peice of art on on side and two smaller works on the other. Rather than the larger piece being centered perfectly between the two.

Hope this helps. Get creative! Be you! Play around with different combinations to create a display that best describes your personal style. After all, it is your home!
