Step 1: Using a small Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw at the bottom of the player which is possibly covered by a small piece of tape.

Step 2: After the screw is removed, slide the metal case cover downward and remove it from the player.

Step 3: Turn over the player and lift up the battery, which will be attached by its power cable. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws from the hard drive cover. The hard drive will need to be removed to disconnect the battery power cable. After the hard drive cover is removed, disconnect the hard drive by pulling it towards the top of the player. The hard drive should easily detach from its connector.

Step 4: With the hard drive removed we have access to the battery power cable. Disconnect the cable by pulling the small, clear connector towards the case of the player. You may want to use the tip of a screwdriver to assist...do not pull on the power cable itself. Install the new battery by positioning the connector over the socket, pushing it in with your finger or the tip of a screwdriver.

Step 5: Replace the hard drive, hard drive cover and put back the four screws. Place the battery back in its position on top of the hard drive and slide the metal case cover back on. Put back the final screw at the bottom of the case. Your new battery will need a minimum of three hours of charging before first use.
