Materials requires:

  • Cardboard box (size depends on what you photograph)
  • 1 yard of white silky material (I got mine at Wal-Mart for $1 a yard)
  • 1/2 a yard black silky material (got it at same place, $2 a yard)
  • Box cutter
  • Scissors
  • 1 poster board (anycolor, black is best)
  • 2 desk lamps (I use 60 w bulbs)

Put cardboard box together as though you were shipping it. Cut out all sides except bottom. Leave a 1/4-1/2 inch lip to glue your material to. Measure white silky material and cut to fit cut out sides of box, be sure to leave enough to glue to lips.

Place edge of material along lip of cardboard. Using glue gun, run a bead of glue along lip, follow closely with material as glue will harden fast. Continue until you have glued all 4 sides of material to box.

Repeat this for remaining open sides of box. Set aside and let dry.

Measure and cut posterboard to fit in box from top of rear wall to bottom, it should cover back wall and floor of bax. Measure and cut black silky material to fit the cut posterboard and attach it with glue. Set aside to let dry.

Place posterboard inside open side of box, place item to be photographed towards the rear of box on covered posterboard.

Place lamps to the side of box shinning light in through white material. Take pictures through open side of the box.

As you see in the 2nd picture, I put it on my desk with the lamps to the side, aiming them at white silky material on side of box. I then place my tripod in front of the box and I can aim at item inside box. The following pictures were taken with this box and a 3.2 pixel digital camera. I turn the flash off and just use the light from the desk lamps.

I hope this is a help to some who are trying to figure out how to get pictures of their items for sell.

Ol Hippie
