My husband works on sewing machines in factorys in High Point,NCfor the past 31 years. His father ran the shop for 45 years.First,No industrial machine has a motor on it.They have a 1/3 or 1/2 horse power Clutch motor on a stand. Some now have Servo computer motors. There are 3 weights of industrial machines also. The lightest ones ,the needle goes up and down in a hole in the needle plate(drop feed). The middle grade is a needle feed,The needle moves front to back at the same time with the feed dogs. The heavy is a walking foot.It has 2 feet and the center one walks with the needle and feed at the same time. You should get the one that fits your needs for what you are going to sew. With a few operator ajustments, the walking foot can sew lighter stuff, but the lighter ones do not sew heavy stuff well.
If the machine has a motor on it or built in..It is a household machine. They are for light use,not only material, but light use.Like a few hours a day,a few days a week,NOT 6 or 12 hours a day.
My husband goes out to service machines in factorys all day and he works on any and all makes. He says that PFAFF industrials are the strongest and give the least trouble. They are the only one still made in Germany. They make a machine for any sewing need.
I hope this helped and you won't waste your money on machines that have False titles.
