Indonesian Batik : Product and Measurement
 
1. Jarit or Jarik or Kain Panjang or Long Clothes
Jarit is batik product which usually using by woman, has measurement about 2 to 2.50 kacu. Kacu is normally measurement for rectangular wide of a batik textile material. The normal measurement available on market is 2 to 2.50 kacu, so this is the normal size of a kain panjang. 1 kacu is about 90 cm, 1 inch is about 2.54 cm.

2. Sarung or Sarong or Sewing Circle or Tube Clothes
Sarung must be stitching at the both tip edge (smaller edge), so when we see from upper side, it looks like tube. The normal measurement is about 2 kacu. Sometimes sarung including the head part and the body part. The head part also known as tumpal, this part has different motif than the body part. People using sarung placed the head part at the rear so the stitched line placed and folded at the front part.
 
3. Selendang or Shawl or Shoulder Clothes
Selendang has length about 2 to 2.50 kacu and wide about a half kacu. Usually using for carrying a thing, mostly likely baby slink but also for completing the woman clothes when using kain kebaya, placed hanging at the shoulder. Mostly of selendang has head part/tumpat at the both edge.
 
4. Kemben or Breast Clothes
Kemben has measurement similarly with the Selendang. The different usage for kemben using to cover the upper body which not wearing kebaya so the shoulder still showing. Mostly of the kemben has centerfiled at the middle part but not has tumpal motif.
 
5. Ikat Kepala or Head Clothes or Taplak Meja or Table Clothes
Ikat Kepala also can using as taplak meja, it has measurement about 1 kacu. Unique folded must made for using as ikat kepala but just put it for taplak meja. Mostly of ikat kepala has centerfield at the middle part.
 
6. Dodot or Rectangular Clothes
I still confuse to identified the right thing about dodot. Some reference describe the dodot as a very long clothes (about 7 kacu) which using for dancer or marriage but at the other reference it describe as a big rectangular clothes (about 2 kacu wide and 3 kacu length) which using as a background of marriage ceremonial or other ceremonial. So I using the both reference.
 
At the recent, there are so many product creation made using batik textile material or technique, including topeng batik, baby slink, beach wear, batik painting, etc.
