Incubator settings:
Little Giant Incubator Still Air (no fan) 102 degrees
Little Giant Incubator Force Air(with fan) 99.5 degrees this model circulates air providing even temp through out incubator
.
Hatching:
17 to 18 days of incubating.
14 days of turning.take out of turner let eggs sit last three to four days(this allows chick to turn inside egg to begin to peck out). You can add some sponges to increase humidity set them under holes in roof where you add water.
when they start hatching leave them alone if you take them out you lose your humidity and lower the temp for the others trying to hatch.

Incubating Tips:
Locate incubator where the temp is steady and it is not drafty, this will allow you to maintain a more consistant temp.
keep opening incubator to a MINIMUM.
Get a egg turner it will pay for its self in the increased hatch rate.
Get a digital thermometer that has a probe you can incert through the roof for readings.check temp daily
Keep water in incubater, for you humidity control add water daily, use a tube through the roof to add water do not open lid this lets out your humidity.

Brooding:
You can build a brooder box out of a box or ice chest, line the bottom with news paper and cover paper with fine mesh wire so chichs can get traction,
you can suspend a light bulb over brooder for heat and adjust temp by raising or lowering and by changing the watt bulbs.
First week they need 100 degrees.
you can reduce the temp by five degrees per week.
look at chicks if they are staying out from under light its to hot adjust untill they stay under but are not huddled under it.
Get a chick waterer,I put marbles in base for the chicks to stand on and drink which keeps them from getting wet.
You can feed them quail starter or turkey starter needs to be 27% protien or higher.

Adult Birds:
Start laying at six weeks.
for best hatch results let them lay for three or four weeks.they seem to become more feritle.
Jumbo Browns:Males chest is rust colored,Females have speckled chest.
Texas A&M:Males have a lump by their ear hole.(hard to see) easier to watch and when one crows he's the male.
I keep one male to every three or four females.
Put lights above layers, they need 17 or 18 hours of daylight to lay everyday.

Eggs Shipped by Mail:
unpack carefully it is not uncommon to have broken eggs.remove and discard damaged eggs.if some eggs have yoke on them take room temp water and dampen a cloth, lightly clean eggs.
after unpacking LET EGGS SIT STILL FOR ATLEAST 8HRS. this allows the embro to settle after shipping.I like to put them in the same room the incubator is in, so as they settle they get use to the room temp also.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HATCHES
