Most ebayers in the United States forget that there is actually more than one ebay site.  Yes, there are more ebay country specific sites that you can imagine.  This is a great opportunity to expand your selling demographic.

The easiest non-U.S. market to tap into is Canada.  This is for many reasons...

The most obvious is that the majority of Canadians are familiar with purchasing items from the U.S.  They can convert US currency into Canadian  currency without any effort at all.  Another reason is that most of the U.S. Ebayer sellers already are willing to ship to Canada, we actually state it in our listing. So why not list directly on the EBay Canada site?  It is easier than you may think.  Let's get started...

Go to ebay.ca, you MUST actually leave the ebay.com and go to ebay.ca, otherwise your listing will not get onto the Canada EBay site.  From there just list your item as you normally would.  For those of you who pay for Selling Manager Pro on ebay.com, you will not have that same service on ebay.ca.  This is a little confusing at first, but you will get use to it. But once the item is listing on the ebay.ca site, you will be able to monitor it from your selling manager pro on the main ebay.com site just like all your other listings.  You will only need to go to ebay.ca to list your items.

Before you start listing on ebay.ca, do your homework.  Go to that site and search for the items you want to list.  There may only be a few high volume items that will be worth the effort.  This is something that may take a little playing around with.  Remember too, that even if you only list one item on the Canada ebay site, the Canadians browsing that listing will still be able to view your ebay store or your other items for sale.

From my experience I would start with one or two items.  You will be glad you did, just to work the kinks out.  This way you can keep your buyers happy while you are learning how to manage your new market.

After you get comfortable with this, the world is your oyster.  There are many other country specific sites that you may want to expand to.

Keep in mind to take your time and do your homework.  Find a good online currency converter and bookmark it.  Also, do not be foolish and list on an ebay site that is in a language you do not speak and write fluently (high school Spanish will not get you through an auction).  You need to be able to handle questions in the sites native language.

If you expand into other English speaking sites like the United Kingdom EBay site, Paypal will make it easy to keep funds in different currencies. But keep in mind, they do charge a fee to do the exchange and thus you will need to account for that in your pricing.

There are a few downsides that you will need to weigh for yourself. For example, how are you going to ship your item? It can not be stressed enough for you to start slowly.
