Walleye fishing is to me is a art form , ITs way more than just casting a hook into a lake or river.

These selective fish are light sensitive and very sensitive to water temperatures. Makes them challenging to catch all the time.

So if you like to fish walleye i must assume you been around the lake a few times and are a old hand at it. Well i have been fishing for many years and walleye is one of my favorite sport and eating fish i fish for.

Heres a few tips and tricks i use when im out on the water that may improve your chances when your after ole White eyes.

1: Take a glance at the weather channel before you plan a trip make sure its not a mid summer hot sunny day unless your fishing in 20ft plus water.  If you do land into walleye and get em in the boat  throw out that anchor or take note where you got the bite. Cause your in the walleye zone you will be able to land a few more in that area. They like to hang out in groups.

2: Never forget to buy bait like a tub of  minnows, worms, leeches they may just make your fishing trip a sucess.Ask the bait dealer nicely so whats hot today for bait and slip him a tip :) Cause next your in that store you wont have to ask .

3: Start off small because a not hungry summer walleye that doesnt want to digest a huge bait might grab the smaller presentations first. My oppion a lindy rig tipped with a minnow or night crawler is a deadly combo in most lakes around Canada.

4: General colors i like using for walleye are Yellow ,Chartruese green to white rubber grubs to black jig tails if the lake is full of weeds and leeches.

5: For Rivers,  well the Bait is a must and if thats not working well, it might be the time of day or season I prefer fall for river fishing Walleye. For Casting in rivers for walleye the trusty and some times rusty old Len thomson five of diamonds is never outcasted in my tackle box. Or the hot and tot brass or sliver rapala lands them well around a mouth of creek that flows into the river.

I tried someing up a few tactics for Canadian walleye that work for me Whats your favorite?
