1. Check all fluids in your auto change as needed (brake fluid if not clear,power stering fluid, transmission fluid and strainer after 60,000 miles , anti-freezn once a year,oil every 3,000 miles) grease all joints, fill rear end oil
2. Change all filters - air,fuel,transmisslon modulator valve if your transmission fluid keeps getting low and you can't find any leaks then check to see if your oil level is too high if so change oil and filter immediatly after changing transmission modulator valve. If your oil overflow is not coming from the transmission fluid then check for water in your oil this is usually from head gaskets whick are blown. After correcting this problem change oil and filter.
3. Check spark plug wires and plugs - let engine idle in park in a dark area or at night to see if there are any sparks lossed because of bad wires , replace plugs and wires every 12-18 months , use parts recomended by your auto manufacturer. check timing, Change timing chain as suggested in auto owners manual, change any belts that are slipping bad(squeeking) or if they have any broken chunks out. Make sure there are no vacume hoses off or leaking.
4. Check tires and very important put correct air preasure in tires this also improves gas mileage
5. Add fuel injector cleaner or carburator cleaner whichever applies to your vehicle
