So you've decided to start selling? Or you've been a seller for awhile, but aren't making the money you'd like to make? Perhaps it's because your description could use a little, ok, well maybe a lot, of improvement! Here are a few tips that won't take up too much of your time, but will definately help increase your sales!!
1) USE COLOR: Our eyes are automatically attracted to bright colors; it can even change our mood. So when you're listing your great item, use one (or more) of the color choices. Make it stand out right from the start!
2) USE BOLD, ITALIC, OR UNDERLINE FEATURES: Use the features that ebay offers to make the most important parts of your description stand out! For example, you will notice "Brand New Tommy Hilfiger Jacket!!" more so that just writing, "brand new tommy hilfiger jacket."
3) GIVE A DETAILED AND ACCURATE DESCRIPTION: I don't buy from sellers who are vague about their product. However, when a seller takes the time to be descriptive, and add information that they themselves may want to know if the situation were reversed, it gives me more confidence in that seller. If you're selling a sweatshirt, for example, don't just write, "blue sweatshirt gently used." That doesn't tell us much aside from the color... it leaves MANY questions unanswered. Instead, you may want to say something like this, "Like new Old Navy Sweatshirt! The color is navy blue, with white Old Navy letters across the chest. Size Large. There are no rips, or stains. It is in wonderful condition!" This makes buyes feel like they have a better understanding of what they are bidding on.
4) ALWAYS ADD PICTURES: Always, always add atleast one (I suggest 2) pictures. For obvious reasons... we are MUCH more likely to bid on something our eyes have seen, and can rely on.
5) SPECIFY YOUR PAYMENT PREFERENCE AND SHIPPING OPTIONS: If you only accept PayPal, tell the potential buyers that. If you only ship First Class, let people know ahead of time. I always allow my buyers to calculate their own shipping, so that they know I am not trying to scam them with high shipping costs. Either way you choose, put it in the description. Your buyers will appreciate it.
6) MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE: Make it known to potential buyers that you gladly welcome any questions pertaining to the item listed. Just in case they have any doubts, they can email you and find all the answers to their questions! DON'T FORGET to be prompt about replying. It does no good if someone emails you and it takes you 3 days to get back to them.
7) BE HONEST! BE HONEST! BE HONEST!: The worst thing you can do is tell even a little 'white lie' when you are selling. Not only do you risk getting negative feedback, and losing any future buyers, but nothing is more disappointing than rushing to the mailbox, opening your package with excitement only to find it is nothing like the seller said it was. Just be honest about it. "One man's trash is another man's treasure!"
Thanks for reading my guide! I sincerely hope it will help increase your bids and sales!! Have a wonderful day!
