Those of us who have been sellers on Ebay a long time are very aware of this problem. Another seller who will not buy a camera or scanner sells items like yours and then takes the pictures and tells Ebay they are his or hers..
My story.
In October of 2005, after my Mom had just died and I had major surgery. We had a big hurricane. The power was off a long time. My roof and almost everyone elses was destroyed. It was chaos. In the middle of the chaos another seller started taking my best selling item photo and claiming it as her own. I was new to computers and new to Ebay and couldn't believe that this was possible. Ebay would not believe me. It took 6 weeks for me to prove this was my picture. Since that time this seller has taken an enormous amount of my images which I pain stakingly made. She or he has even taken them with my watermark on it and claimed it as his or her own.
Recently my best selling item was removed from Ebay because the other seller in question had claimed it was her image. My watermark (ebay ID) was in bold. Now I have to go to VeRo and make a formal claim for my own photograph. Fortunately I had more than one photo on this item and still was able to get a good price that week by relisting it without my own photo.
Will the seller ever stop taking my images and claiming them as their own?
Update. Sellers who steals images steals an image from another seller. It took 3 years for Ebay to give me back the rights to my own photos. On top of this I was emailed a written confession from the seller.
She admitted that she had taken rather then stolen several of my photos. It's hard to keep up with these things you know! she says. Further stating "I hope you are happy. Now they have removed my power seller status. Now I am in tears again before services. On her site she makes much of being a good Christian. I don't know anyone that doesn't know the commandment Thou Shalt Not Steal! No matter what faith they belong to.
Update. Discipline to seller removed. Power seller status regained from Ebay.
