If you think you're getting a deal on Disney pins, buying them for 99 cents to $2.00 a piece? Think you're getting REAL pins? Think again.
I got the following eBay email in September 2009. I've turned it over to Disney's VerO (anti-piracy group) but thought you'd find it interesting...

Scrapper sellers are getting their pins for EIGHTY CENTS... Unauthorized pins. Fakes. Bootlegs. And they're selling them on eBay EVERY DAY. You wonder why some folks can sell you pins on eBay for $.99 to $2.00 a piece? It's because most of them are FAKES!
Go to Dizpins and look under their "Diz-ellaneouse" section for Counterfeit and Scrapper pins. This person's "catelog" are the last 4-5 pages of pins at the bottom (ending with a Tinker Bell with a Leaf...N63)!
HOT SCRAPPERS ON EBAY (as of OCTOBER 2009):
-
The Carousel Pins. * The 2010 Mystery Pins
-
The Princess Teacup pins. * The Mickey Heads in various colors.
-
The Haunted Mansion Miniature Animal Tombstone Pins.
-
The Bowling Pin Mystery Series * Vinylmation Holiday Pins.
-
Mickey Statue pins. * Various Middle Mickey pins.
-
The Australia Adventures by Disney pins (many of them) * The character flower name pins (cuties)
-
Jack Skellington vaious holidays pins. * Vinylmation Series III
-
Many many more...
After seeing these, look on eBay and see all the sellers selling these pins! Make note of these Sellers...a lot of them are Scrapper Sellers!!! Vinylmation Holiday pins, Hidden Mickeys and Mystery Sets are some of the biggest sets being offered by Scrapper Sellers!
Are ALL pins selling on eBay for that cheap fake? No. But if I were you, I'd be VERY careful about auctions that offer bulk lots of pins for this cheap...you might very well be buying bootlegs.
