I've been surfing the net for a lot of years and it finally caught up with me. I had the same email address for about 10 years and I used it in all my shopping and IDs/LogOns, etc. Now I know better. It isn't much of a leap to add @yahoo.com or @hotmail.com to someone's ID and figure out their email address. Besides some one stealing my identity on ebay I was getting spammed to death. I gave up my favorite email address and started a new one. I use Yahoo's SpamGuard email addresses which costs me $19.95 per year and it's worth it to me. Lessons Learned:
1. Don't answer ANY ebay related email from your personal email account. Go to ebay.com to read and reply to your ebay related email.
2. Don't use your email address or the first part of your email address as an ID for ANY website, shopping, tech support, anything!
3. More people are honest than dishonest but those dishonest people really hurt everyone.
