For the doll collector's who haven't been collecting for a long time, I thought I would mention something that I learned by accident some years ago. I didn't know there was a difference in the arms of a "Strung" Toni doll and a "Walker" Toni doll. There is a big difference and the arms do NOT interchange as the Walker arms protrude out from the shoulders where the Strung arms go into the shoulder at the torso.
So, if you buy replacement arms on ebay, make sure you ask if they are Walker arms or Strung Toni arms. The legs, of course, are really different and cannot be interchanged either, but since the Walker legs are usually Pin Hipped and straight, you can readily tell the difference. The only different Walker Legs are on the size P93 Walker doll and they do NOT have pins in the hip, but are indeed Walker legs, which will move the head when she walks.
If you are needing a Toni body Torso or Strung Legs, you can always buy a Harriet Hubbard Ayers doll in the right size (i.e. P90, P91, etc) as the same Ideal body torso was used on the HHA dolls. The HHA dolls don't seem to sell for as much money as the Toni dolls do, so you could use the Torso and the Legs if you needed to replace some. HHA dolls have the vinyl head and vinyl arms, thus the Torso and Legs are the main parts you would want.
The P90 Ideal Betsy McCall dolls also used the same body Torso as the Ideal P90 Toni doll, so those body parts, with the exception of her vinyl head, could also be used to replace parts if you needed them for your Strung Toni dolls.
Just always make sure to ask lots of questions when you buy doll parts from a Seller and if they can't give you a definite answer to your question, I would look to someone else to buy from. You really need to know that the parts you are buying are going to work for your particular Toni doll.
Happy Dolling,
