Finding out important details for listing your guitar is actually pretty easy.  With luck your guitar will still have it's serial number on the back of the guitar headstock.  If you are really lucky, it will also have the model number there as well.  If neither of these are present, your local guitar shop may point you in the right direction.

Your guitar's serial number should have a letter followed by 6 or 7 numbers.  Check out ibanezrules to find out everything you wanted to know about when and where your guitar was made.  It is found in their RESOURCES ares.  In general, a Japanese made Ibanez is more valuable than places where Ibanez's are made.

Now that you know when and where your guitar was made, it is now pretty easy to fill in the blanks and fill out everything about this guitar.  Ibanez has all of their old catalogues stored for people like us.  Go to Ibanez and go to their CATALOGS area.  There you can find their historic 1965 to 2007 back Catalogs area.

From here, assuming you found the year your guitar was made, you can pull up the old catalogue from the Ibanez archive and see all the guitars that were made that year.  If your guitar had the model number on it, you can find the exact guitar and all the specifics listed here.  If you didn't have the model number on your headstock but know the year it was made, it's a longer process of going through the catalogue for the year it was made and finding the same guitar.  Unfortunatly, some guesswork is needed because catalogues don't show every paint option for every guitar, but they do list the colors that the guitar was painted in.

Information that you will need in your listing that will greatly improve your chances for a profitable sale are:

Where and when it was made - ie. Japan, 1987

Series of the guitar - ie. RG, S, Radius, Power, JS, JEM, etc...

Key points - ie Guitar pickup make, Guitar Tremolo model, Neck Profile, etc...

List all the extras that are included.., be sure to list a hardshell case if included in the auction title

Honest assessment of the guitars issues paying close attention to the neck (for cracks and dings), the frets (for wear and dings!), areas where rust is present.

Thank you and good luck!!
