We sell new Italian leather briefcases, among other fine leather accessories for men and women on eBay.  We wanted to take an opportunity to share our observations about our lines of “Italian Leather Briefcase”.  

We carry two lines of Italian leather briefcases, Jack Georges (former, original Coach Leather designer) and McKleinUSA ladies wheeled laptop cases, briefcases, totes and computer briefcases.  You can expect a high retention of your investment on the Jack Georges line due to the very high quality of leather and workmanship.  The McKleinUSA line offers a mid to low price range for leather luggage, while providing cutting edge, award-winning features, with many colors for the ladies.

JACK GEORGES ITALIAN LEATHER BRIEFCASE AND LAPTOP CASES

The Sienna and Milano lines are both made from Italian leather.  The Sienna line mainly targets men, and is made up of lawyer briefcases, brief bags and underarm styles for professionals that carry a lot of documents and perhaps a laptop.  The line has complimentary matching wallets and leather notepads.  

The Sienna line features leather from the Tuscany region of Italy and is vegetable tanned leather.  Each piece is hand stained so that it offers its own unique character, featuring raw-edge styling, and suede leather lining, polished nickel hardware and steel reinforcements.  Made in Black, Cherry and Cognac.  Cognac turns a lot of heads.  The 7505 Italian leather briefcase with strap in Cognac is a favorite with our customers.

The Milano line targets the professional woman and women who like classic lines and quality leather products.  The main feature of this line is that it comes in so many colors and coordinates with matching wallets, notepads and handbags.  The Italian leather is durable, lightweight, scratch resistant.  Many of the styles come in black, cherry, red, brown, blue, yellow, pink, green, orange, etc.  This line also features two wheeled laptop cases, one vertical upright, and the other normal. You will fine laptop totes, classic Italian leather briefcases and handbags that can double as a laptop bag.  The briefcases and laptop totes feature pockets for storage of cell phone, PDA and zipper pouches.  

MCKLEINUSA ITALIAN LEATHER BRIEFCASE AND LAPTOP CASE

All of the W Series, for Women, is made of Italian leather.  Featured are leather laptop cases, laptop totes, briefcases, wheeled laptop case.  Most accommodate a laptop, either the 15.4 smaller sizes, screen always measured diagonally, and two cases accommodate the 17 inch screens, i.e. the Deerfield laptop tote and the Willowbrook wheeled laptop case.  Both come in all colors of the rainbow.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM FUNCTIONAL, MODERN ITALIAN LEATHER BRIEFCASE:

• Handmade is always good
• Hand stained is also good
• Lightweight steel construction is good
• Proper accommodation and insulation for laptop, if necessary
• Separate compartments for documents
• Leather that has supple consistency and doesn’t crack or dry out.  Be prepared to care for your fine leather accessory, tips below
• Hardware must be of strong construction and resilient to constant maneuvering
  
• Leather stitching should be tight and small enough to make secure seams and not draw attention to stitching, unless it is part of the design
• In conclusion, one should expect a high end Italian leather briefcase to be well made, with high quality leather, and should last many years without too much care
• Finally, you usually get fairly close to what you pay for, in quality, design, construction and durability.
• Note that one can pay from $250 all the way up to thousands for fine Italian leather briefcases, so assess your needs in a bag, space requirements and functionality, whether you need a laptop case, shoulder strap or wheeled bag.
• If you require a laptop, always measure your screen diagonally, as most suppliers quote dimensions based on diagonal screen size, and further check the physical inside dimensions of the laptop compartment.
• Always ask questions prior to purchase about the construction and dimensions of the bag.
  

LEATHER CARE FOR JACK GEORGES LEATHER

Jack Georges makes a leather product available upon request from our store, we just ask that you pay the shipping.  It contains no waxes and is not intended for suede leather.  We recommend if you do not use the Jack George leather lotion, you obtain a lotion from a reputable leather dealer that contains no waxes and always do a test cleaning, near bottom of bag prior to cleaning large surfaces.  Some of the tips offered below on the McKlein bags may also work on the Jack George Italian leather, but always test in small areas where you will be willing to live with the result.

LEATHER CARE FOR MCKLEINUSA PRODUCTS

McKleinUSA recommends Lexol Leather Conditioner and Preservative to maintain strength, beauty, utility and flexibility.  You can search online or find this in many leather shops.

GENERAL TIPS FOR TREATING FINE LEATHER - test, test, test in small areas first

If you get caught in the rain, let your bag dry naturally, away from any direct heat source. Stuff the case with paper towels to absorb moisture and help retain the shape of the case.

• Many spots and marks on leather can be cleaned off with a pencil eraser, always test small area first
• Hairspray helps remove ink and pen marks—just blot with a paper towel.
• Spots can be removed with a solution of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 water, which is    particularly effective on sugar or alcohol spots.
• Oil and grease can be cleaned off leather with a spray-on spot remover. Rubber cement is another good oil spot remover. Apply over the spot, let dry and then rub off (do not use this treatment on suede).
• Do not use any adhesives or other chemicals on the case as doing so might compromise the leather.

WHEELS
       We recommend you periodically spray WD-40 on axles in order to keep them rolling quietly and smoothly. Do not wheel your case up stairs as the continual impact will shorten the life of the axle.

TELESCOPING HANDLE
       Firmly press the button on telescoping handles before pulling up. Do not lift the case off the ground by the telescoping handle. Use the leather handle attached to the case to lift and carry it. The telescoping handle joints may be stiff when you first use the case. Using WD-40 on it every month or so will alleviate any stiffness.

ZIPPERS
       Do not try to zip an overstuffed case. If the zipper sticks, gently use a back and forth motion until the teeth are back on track.
