IFFY WIFFY SHIFTY: TITLES & DESCRIPTIONS & S/H.....STAY AWAY FROM SAY THE WISE ONE

HOO HOO SAID THE OWL

  • I am so tired of jewelry titles which say lucite/bakelite when the dealer knows darn well the content has no bakelite.
  •
  • I am so tired of descriptions which say the same:" not sure if bakelite."
  •
  • there is a simple reliable test with Formula 409 to test for bakelite (don't use Simechrome- been lab tested with result of too many false positves).
  •
  • I am so tired of sellers who make absolutely no estimate or quote re: shipping & handling but expect you to bid with only 2/3 or3/4 of information ====MONEY AMOUNTS====  ARE needed.
  •
  • I am so tired of asking sellers about S/H. Lately, my strategy is sending them a question saying I don't have time to ask about S/H.
  •
  • I am tired of photos that show part of item. And the part that is not in photo, is not described. e.g.  a necklace front is shown but the necklace closure is not shown nor is it described.
  •
  •  I am tired of one photo when at least 2 photos are needed to make a good decision about bidding.
  •
  • I am so tired of listings that are in general categories and WHAT THE ITEM IS MADE OF is not stated. If they put it in plastic or wood category then I would assume, yes, this is made of plastic or this is made of wood.
  •
  • I am so very tired of eBay not policing the listings. Anything to sell.. anything...however... whatever way you state it ...anything sells.... PROFIT FOR eBay stockholders is the goal, not protecting the INNOCENT PUBLIC BUYER..... it seems. I know they very occasionally will stop some great media event sale like major league tickets being sold above written ticket price, SCALPING. In, addition, it costs lots of money for eBay to monitor and throw out listings that are against the STRICT rules. eBay appears to let them slide except the most terrible or media inspired ones.  I do believe selling a basket or any other item that is not authentic for $100-$2000 or even if only $10, that this is terrible and is misdemeanor/felony crime. White collar crime is just as bad as street crime!
  •
  • The buyer deserves protection.
  •
  • THE WISE OWL SAY: WHY HAVE STRICT RULES WHICH ARE SO INFREQUENTLY ENFORCED? WHY NOT HAVE FLIMSY / SOFT RULES EVERYONE FOLLOWS?

  •
  • Remember any listing adds up to great profit for eBay. It is a "front-load" system. For example, there are 3000 listings with minimal start bid amount and 1 photo, and 1 listing designer fee: about 70 cents listing cost. So,  3000 times .70 =  $2100. eBay makes the money even if nothing of those 3000 listings ever sell. It does not matter. I see so many hundreds of listings going unsold.  There are probably millions and millions and millions going unsold, to say it mildly.
  •
  • I am so tired of horrible stories like in MOCASSINMAN'S (user ID) GUIDE  about unscrupulous dealers selling native amercian baskets that are really made in China. I just read his new guide a few moments ago and it got my blood boiling.
  •
  • I love eBay but if the fraud was reduced it would be so much a better place. In addition if the listings were not so IFFY WIFFY SHIFTY--- my and J.C. Public's surfing on eBay would be more pleasant.  LIFE IS HARD ENOUGH....
  •
  • I saw this TV program about the founder of eBay. He & his wife are always looking for great places to give millions/billions to CHARITY. Well, he could start by giving charity to the small-end sellers on eBay. Its the sad truth, but, at times a little item may only have $1-$3 profit. Or it is entirely a loss. Approximately 70 cents to $3 in listing fees out the window and down the drain. Many a seller are giving charity as great bargains to buyers. Of Course, we buy on eBay in great bulk, also, as we see great bargains. There is a STATISTIC that the same buyers and sellers do around 80% of the business (all the transactions) on eBay. Something like that. Its been a while since I heard the statistic. This surprising statistic tells this story: the same people are doing the majority of buying and selling. It is not divided by 50% who only do buying and the other 50% doing selling. The great  majority are transacting  in both endeavors.

well, thats enough for now.
