Buyer Beware! There are starting to be a bunch of sellers posting fake New Era fitteds on eBay! Check out this guide to make sure you don't get swindled for your money! This guide will give you some tips and pointers to help you avoid getting stuck with a fugazi fitted!
First and foremost:
1) Price is too good to be true. Know the retail price of the hat before you bite at the seller's "low price"!
2) Sellers are from outside of the US, usually in the Asian countries or Sweden.
3) Check out the Buyer's feedback, as people will warn others the seller
is selling fakes; usually the seller have no reply on negative
feedback they receive. On the opposite side, authentic sellers usually have excellent or flawless feedback with praises of authenticity!
4) Check the length of the seller doing business on eBay. Usually fake sellers will not last long on eBay
5) If a seller is listing too many hard to find or limited fitteds in their listings with a below retail price and high shipping. Ie: a $35 "Supreme" hat with $40 shipping.
6) Some sellers don't have their hats in stock or steal images
from other sellers. If you get suspicious just ask them for a picture
with their ebay id written on a paper along with the hats. This will keep them true to their word.
7) Fake New Era hats often have the wrong fonts on the inside New Era label and overall look cheaply made. Also, "unreleased" colorways or "limited" colorways that "never hit stores" are 99% not authentic. But if they are actually authentic sample New Era fitteds, they should have a white tag on the inside that says "Sample" in red ink.
8) Fake Nike New Era's don't have the official Gold foil New Era sticker or if they do - it doesn't properly say 59FIFTY.
9) Always ask to see the brand label inside the fitted. Real Supreme hats should have a SUPREME box tag inside in blue with a white outline, MLB fitteds should have the official MLB seal, ALIFE fitteds should have the ALIFE logo on the inside, etc.
10) Again, don't just buy immediately because the price is too good! Do some research on the hat and compare it to other auctions to find any difference on the price or quality.
Ebay is a great place to find some very rare fitteds and build up an awesome collection. If you can learn these basics you too will be able to build up a mean fitted game!
I wish you the best of luck,NOSTRA
