ID Verify Should I?
What is it? Is it something that you should consider?
ID Verify is an offering from eBay in conjunction with Equifax. Using information already stored in the Equifax database, the eBay member is challenged to answer questions only he should know the answers to.
Once the eBay member has successfully answered the prompted questions, he is VERIFIED!!!
OK, SO WHY?
eBay members with verified ID’s can offer a level of assurance to the trading partner, either buyer or seller.
eBay provides this way of proving your identity without putting your credit card on file.
More details of the benefits of having your identity verified are listed in eBay HELP.
What are the requirements?
1. Be a resident of the United States or U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and Guam).
2. Provide your home address, not your company’s address.
3. Pay a $5.00 application fee.
4. Enter information such as your name and date of birth.
5. Finally, you will be required to answer challenge questions from a multiple choice answer set.
Where do I go to get verified?
1. Go to the ID Verify page and then click the “Sign up now” link.
2. Follow the directions after reading and agreeing to the terms.
3. If you do not pass the check you will not be charged the $5.00 fee.
The ID Verification process involves no credit check, but rather, a "match" between the answers you give and the information about you already stored in the Equifax database. This will not act as a credit inquiry, and your information is secured using 128-bit encrytion over a secure connection.
Limitations:
The information used to verify cannot be changed for 30 days. This includes your mailing address. After 30 days, should you need to modify this information, you may do so, but you will then need to be re verified, paying the $5.00 fee again.
I hope this guide has been useful to you. I look forward to trading with other verified eBay members!
