I am writing this short guide to answer the question," Why do I have so many watchers on my item and no bids?"
If your item is getting plenty of action and the watchers are lining up in the "watchers column" don't get to excited just yet! When the watcher column fills up with watchers, there could be more to it than a bunch of people wanting to bid on your item! I have found that frequently, these watchers could be other sellers ,trying to see what price you will obtain for your item. They usually want an idea of what the item will sell for. Thats why you get no bids.
Also look at fixed price listings and see that alot of those have several watchers. Watching is a great research tool to acquire a good asking price for your item. Now of course if someone was interested in buying your item, they would not watch an item, they would just buy it!
Some people watch to see if your item does not sell , will you lower the price the next time you list?
I have a great way to turn this watching game into a win win situation! To lure the "watchers" that will trually buy, add a bonus to your item! I sometimes add some fashion jewelry, That I have plenty of from yardsales and such. Then I add a subtitle with a big announcement of JUST ADDED! BONUS EARRINGS FOR THE BUYER OF THIS ITEM!
The subtitle costs only 50 cents and It just may grab a buyer out of a bunch of Spectators! Try it I have and have had sucess. If it does not work , your item could just be overpriced for the market.
The next time you have a bunch of watchers try this handy selling solution!
