You've tried Bare Escentuals Mineral Foundation, you like it and are ready for more? This guide is designed to give you information on some of Bare Escentuals other very popular Mineral Makeup Products: All Over Face Colors, Eyeshadows, Glimmers, Glimpses and more! Learn how to apply them and enjoy a look which enhances your natural beauty.

What is an "All Over Face Color"?  Why do I want one and how do I choose an All Over Face Color that is right for me?

Bare Escentuals has created several All Over Face Colors. An All Over Face Color is designed to give a sheer hint of color to the skin without making one look overly made up.  All Over Face colors come in a variety of shades, each designed to give a different look.  When choosing a color, choose one you like! Here is a list of the All Over Face Colors:

Original Colors

Warmth - A chestnut shade. One of the original all over face colors and a favorite of many mineral makeup wearers.  Gives the skin a sun kissed look. Apply a very, very small amount to the skin wherever the sun would give color to the skin: on the cheeks, forehead, bridge of the nose, etc.  You need very, very little to achieve that sun kissed look (about the size of the head of a pin). A favorite as a lip color (dip your favorite lip balm or lip gloss in the minerals and apply to the lips) or eyeshadow (use an eyeshadow brush, such as the wet/dry, tapered or heavenly soft buffing eyeshadow brush to apply to the eye area.)

Glee - A mauve plum shade.  One of the original all over face colors.  Still a favorite among many mineral make up wearers.  Bare Escentuals designed this color to emulate the look women have when they are truly happy!  Apply to the cheeks.  Also, wonderful as a lip color  (dip your favorite lip balm or lip gloss in the minerals and apply to the lips.)

True - A rose shade with a Golden Shimmer. Another original all over face color.  This is one of my personal favorites.  Gives a hint of color to the cheeks that is very natural.  Very good for those with rosacea (I use in place of a blush.)  Great for cheeks, eyes and lips.

Radiance Face Colors

Clear Radiance - The first shade introduced in the "Radiance" All Over Face Colors.  A sheer shade designed to give the glow found in baby's skin. This does not give a lot of color to the skin, but does give my skin that "glow".  It can be worn over the entire face, mixed in with foundation or with another all over face color, as an eyeshadow (wet or dry), on the lips or on the body.  This is the most popular radiance all over face color.

Warm Radiance - A sheer, subtle version of Warmth. It is a mixture of Clear Radiance and Warmth.  Gives a very sheer sun kissed look. If you have are having trouble wearing warmth, this is a great alternative!  It is a lot more forgiving.  Favorite for the cheeks, lips and body.

Rose Radiance - A sheer rose shade. Perfect as a blush for those who do not want too much color on the cheeks (such as those with rosacea.)  This is a newer addition to the BE line, but it is one of my favorite minerals!  It works beautifully as a blush, eyeshadow and lip color.

Bare Radiance - A sheer nude shade designed to give your skin a hint of color similar to the way a nude stocking gives a bit of color to the legs without giving them a suntan look.  This is one of the newest and most popular radiance shades.

Soft Focus All Over Face Colors

Soft Focus Warmth - A sheer version of Warmth (chestnut shade).  More finely milled to give a sheerer appearance.

Soft Focus True - A sheer version of True (golden rose) without the shimmer. More finely milled to give a sheerer appearance.

Soft Focus Glee - A sheer version of Glee (mauve plum).  More finely milled to give a sheerer appearance.

Other Great All Over Face Colors

Gossamer - A sheer Sparkle shade. Can be worn everyday.  A great mix in for eyeshadows to add a hint of sparkle.  Especially nice for evenings out.  Perfect for face, eyes, lips and body.

Trudy - A mixture of True, Glee and Warmth. Very wearable, particularly as a blush and lip color.

Blushing Beauty - Sheer Rose. Lovely as a blush or lip color.

Faux Tan - Sunlit Bronze. Gives face the look of a tan without the sun damage. Perfect for those who use sunless tanner.

What brush should I use to apply the All Over Face Colors?

Different brushes give different levels of coverage.   I prefer the Heavenly Soft Face Brush. It gives a very sheer application which you can layer, but you do not need to worry about applying to much on the first pass (which is especially important for the original face colors.)  The heavenly soft face brush also applies blush beautifully!

If you would like a bit more coverage, I recommend one of the sable hair brushes (Flawless or Angled Face Brush, Tapered or Angled Blush Brush, or a Kabuki Brush such as the Full Coverage, Baby Buki, Body Buki or Handi Buki.  Keep in mind that kabuki brushes give quite a bit more coverage than other brushes.)

Do I use the All Over Face color in place of blush?

You can, but you do not have to. All Over Face Colors were not designed to replace blush, but many women do like using the face colors instead of blush.  I have quite a bit of redness in my cheeks and I prefer to use an all over face color in place of blush.

What about my eyes? Where do I begin?

Bare Escentuals makes five different types of eyeshadows: Eyeshadow (matte), Glimpses (a touch of shimmer), Glimmers (a bit more shimmer), Liner shadows (highly pigmented, can be used as an eyeshadow, but use very, very little) and Soft Focus Eyeshadows (a sheerer eyeshadow, can also be used as a cheek color.)

I use Bisque as an eyeshadow base before I apply my eyeshadow every single day (I also use it to spot conceal before I apply foundation). Then I choose a light eyeshadow, glimmer or glimpse and apply that to the lid up to the brow bone. Next, I choose a darker shade (I usually use a glimmer or glimpse for this color) and apply that to the crease. I think apply it as an eyeliner (either wet or dry. To use it wet, wet a liner brush and mix the water with the minerals in the jar's lid.)

If you want to have some fun, try foiling the glimmers and glimpses. To foil, wet your eyeshadow brush (the tapered eyeshadow or wet dry brush work very well) and mix the water with some minerals in the lid until you have a thin paste consistency. Apply the glimmer or glimpse to your lid wet. Some women like to add a touch of dry minerals over the wet foiled shadow.  The heavenly eyeshadow buffing brush works particularly well.

What brush should I use for my eyes?

If you can only purchase one eyeshadow brush, I recommend the Double End Precision Brush. It has a wet/dry eyeshadow brush on one end and a paintbrush type brush on the other end. The paintbrush type brush can be used to apply shadow to the crease or wet as a liner brush. It is very versatile.

If you want to expand your brush collection, I recommend the Soft Focus Retractable Liner Brush and the Heavenly Soft Eyeshadow Buffing Brush.

I hope this guide has helped you!  If you feel this is missing some information you would like to see, please email me.  I will be happy to add it to this guide.  If you like it, I would appreciate it if you rated my guide. Thanks so much!
