Record of history, Along with history is the mystery of how it was found and where. My collection is accesive, jars are my favorite/with a desire for history ,always looking for that missing link/always buying odd closures and one of akind or few if ever/produced. I thought the novelty of jars would ware of. Its sronger now than ever. Turning a forgotten piece of history into a valuable piece. Bringing together jars lids and closures ( the fun of jar collecting)Ill have to admit, I lean towards collecting jars, there imposing size, sharp embosing and ability to date jars to almost year and place where jar was made.Iin the past/glass blowers put in thier personal touch at times /partially removing another jar embosing and redoing jar and seeing the previous run of jars embosing subdued but in back ground.Straw marks ,crude whittling from worn out molds/imbeded and encased iron ships. Some from monday morning blues, or an over worked inspectors passing jars on by. The history of it all,you can picture the boss verbally abusing the glass blowers and /employe saying ok boss !!and blowing a jar with 300 small bubbles /or a marking a jars bottom not belonging there. Before refrigeration, and to this day in some remote areas ,jars are still away of life,The personalized closures of past, giving distinction to its early glass blowers/and Black, smiths. The civil war and earely on (maltese cross) hero jars,1858 Mason jar ,used by moonshinners in South USA for years.I can't help but wonder the mystery of the past.Reveals of secrets, just study your antique/and do research on location of company making jar/like so many company's of today ,the companys merged /from one to another.I would imagine, glass blowers had part in history, thier jars carried from coast to coast ,civil war foods, wagon trains west, the gold rush. The hiostory of knowledge. (rambojrg logo) John R Granath
