I recently viewed the article about Bugaboos being a scam on ebay. To an extent, this person is correct. When making a "Big Ticket" purchase on any website, regardless of whether or not it is presented in an auction-style setting, buyers must do their homework. I save most buyers on average $100.00 from purchasing their Bugaboos retail. I am very up front about shipping times and the process in which they are buying their strollers. I have had three negative experiences online dealing with Bugaboo strollers. The first non desirable experience was with a company that came up during my Google search for sellers of the Bugaboo Brand. Due to legal policies, I will not mention names, but this website is one of the more popular ones on the web. I purchased a Bugaboo Cameleon from this website for one of my clients because I had sold out of the color they had originally purchased and wanted to get their stroller to them more quickly. The website advertised same day shipping (as most of them do), so I figured I'd try it out. this was the biggest mistake. I read on the check out page from this website that I could call in to their customer service center with my order number within 24 hours, and they would be able to let me know information about my order. Three days after making the purchase with no email (as promised), I called the company's' customer service hotline to check the status of my order. They couldn't find it. I was advised that I needed to wait another day and call back. I did. Again, I was told that the order couldn't be found. Yet, I did receive the confirmation email from this company stating they had received my order and, my credit card had been billed for the full amount. I called, yet again. same story. This time, I asked to speak to a supervisor. "She" wasn't available, but I was promised that she would call me back within the hour. An hour came & went. No call. I called back about two hours later. Still no order was in their system. They had tried phone number, email and order number. Nothing worked. I asked to be transferred. I was then transferred to a woman who stated that she had found the order and it would be sent out on the following Saturday and that she would call me personally to confirm that my stroller had shipped. Saturday came and passed with no communication from anyone regarding my order. I was insanely upset. I called the customer service number again that Monday. I refused to hang up until my order was verified. I was hung up on three times. The fourth telephone call, I was so infuriated. I was transferred to someone yet again, that could not find my order. It took me five days after that to get a refund. I had to contact my credit card company.
The same happened to me just after that with the exception of the length of time it took to get a refund with an online retailer. I then purchased a Bugaboo Frog here on eBay from a seller that had over 200 transactions at 97%. After not hearing from her and no response to my emails for two weeks, I had to file a dispute with paypal. I received a refund within three days and an email from the seller who stated that she had an emergency (I Bet)...
I advertise my personal email and cell phone number on all of my Bugaboo auctions as I have nothing to hide. If someone is unwilling to do this, you should be cautious. Additionally, if a seller has more than 50 feedbacks at 100% positive, you should feel comfortable bidding with that seller as long as you've checked their feedback to see what percentage of their feedback is from buyers. And, you email them before bidding and get a suitable response in a timely fashion. It's not only eBay that you need to worry with, but the Net in general. Anyone can open a website with a little computer savv.
I write this in confidence that I will enlighten those who read these comments to a dual sided view of this Bugaboo business. You have ot be careful what you believe, as some people write out of jealousy rather than knowledge.
