Hvana Clothing - A Guide to Hvana Jeans & Shirts
The Hvana clothing line bucks numerous trends and conventions. The cashmere combined with funk look was cobbled together by an unlikely couple--DJ Howie B (alumnus of many major music albums, including productions with U2 and the Rolling Stones) and Fornari, a cutting-edge Italian design house. Although the company has only been around for a short while, the Hvana brand has already made waves outside of the closed New York and Los Angeles fashion circles.
Part of the Hvana brand's appeal is its cheekiness. T-shirts reference pop culture (one reads "I did it my waist"--an illusion to Frank Sinatra's much over-played karaoke ballad "My Way"). That said, while slogans like "Eat Me" (over a screen of a tomato) and "Don't waist my love" may seem like fare for work-a-day silk-screens, the Hvana shirts are all comprised of extremely soft cashmere material.
In 2006, Hvana released shirts depicting vegetables, waist slogans, and the Hvana black sheep logo. The company also creates extremely durable and pleasant to wear denim jeans made from Kurabo material, which gets imported from Japan. You can find several colors and styles of these Hvana jeans, including denim black and white.
Hvana seems poised to expand into other garment niches with its roll out of the x-ray sneaker. These shoe models display some of the same ironic statements that you can find on the tees. Look for the Hvana sheep to determine authenticity.
