First a word of Caution before you buy that yard sale or thrift store doll. Ink stains or mildew on vinyl dolls are impossible to remove. Do not buy dolls with matted or missing hair, unless you want to replace hair with a new wig.And do not buy dolls with ink stains or mildew on them. The materials you will need to restore your doll are: Fantastik or 409 Liquid Cleaner,Soft Scrub Cleaner, Cotton Balls,Cotton Swabs,a Sponge,Johnson's Baby Shampoo,Baby Oil & Baby Powder, Small Hair Rollers,Hair Spray,Cold Water Woolite,Fabric Softener, And Kleenex. STEP ONE:Remove all clothes from the doll,if she has any clothes left on her.Wash clothes in cold water Woolite by hand. Hang up to dry. Then you can press and mend if needed. You can do some research through doll books such as Modern Collectible Dolls By Patricia R. Smith Vols. 1-5.  Or try the public Library. You can find out, if  your doll clothes came on the doll originally, or you can ask, the seller, if they may know.--The value of a doll is increased if it has the original clothes. STEP TWO : With cotton balls soaked in Liquid Cleaner, clean the entire surface of the doll. Stubborn stains can be rubbed with Soft Scrub Cleanser. After a thorough cleaning, wring out a sponge in clear clean water and wipe all traces of cleaner from the doll. Dry with a soft towel. DO NOT IMMERSE the doll in water at any time during the cleaning process. STEP THREE:Hold the doll upside down over a basin of lukewarm water and immerse the hair only, being careful not to get water into the eyes.Shampoo the hair with baby shampoo, rinse well with fabric softener in the rinse water. Pat dry with a towel and brush while damp. Put hair up on small rollers and wrap head in a bath towel to help absorb the moisture. Set doll aside until hair is dry, then remove the rollers and brush the hair into curls or whatever hair-do you wish.Adorn the hair with ribbons if you desire, after your doll is dressed. STEP FOUR:Put a tiny amount of baby oil on a cotton ball and rub all over the doll's body. Also put a tiny amount of baby oil on a cotton swab and gently clean the doll's eyes. While you have the baby oil on your hands, wipe them off on the doll's curls to give the hair a sheen.Wipe all oil off the doll's body with Kleenex. Spray the doll's hair-do with a gentle hair spray. After the hair spray has dried, put a small amount of baby powder on a cotton ball and wipe over the doll's body for a sweet smell. STEP FIVE: Now dress your doll, either in the original clothes or in new clothes you have made, or purchased.  Now You Can, Enjoy Your  Beautiful Restored Doll.--Thanks For Looking! Good Luck!
