I own about 45 authentic baseball jerseys which most of you know can be quite costly. I love to wear them around, to support my favorite player. The only drawback is that I might get something on them. No matter how careful I am, there is always that chance. In the event I do get something on one, or they just get a little dirty from normal wear, there are no worries. I usually wait until I have 3 or 4 jerseys that need washed, unless it is something really bad. Keeping the whites together, and the grays or darker colors together is the most important part. I start out by using Original Tide and Biz. I start the washer with hot water and add my usual amount of Tide. I then use one scoop of Biz. The hot water will help this dissolve and activate it better. About the time the water reaches 5 inches or so, I turn the temperature to warm. The jerseys say wash in cold water, but it will be cool once they start washing. I then add the jerseys to the washer, usually 3-5. I'll let the washer continue filling and start to agitate for about 1 minute. This allows everything to get mixed and the jerseys are able to get completely covered in the soapy solution. Now you turn the washer off. Let them set for however long you like. If really dirty, let set a few hours. After they set, start the washer and let it run its regular cycle. I DO NOT ADD FABRIC SOFTNER and DO NOT DRY IN DRYER. Letting them hang dry makes sure that the stains will not set. If they are still stained after this, try washing again and let sit in washer longer before you start the cycle. This may not get all the stains out, but it will help out tremendously. I have had some that were purchased cheap due to being stained up. After washing them once or twice, they look as good as new. I am not a pro, but have had excellent results using this method.
