EBay has recently launched the eBay neighborhoods, a social networking service provided to all members of eBay for free.
I use a combination of my eBay blog, the eBay to Go feature and the eBay Neighborhoods to promote the items I am selling on eBay and here is how I do it:
First I need to know what neighborhoods are out there and which neighborhoods would be interested in my products.
I have found 3 guides that have been published that list all the neighborhoods on eBay:
The complete list of eBay neighborhoods A-H I-Q R-Z
For example, I am a big St. Louis Cardinals fan, I also sell St. Louis Cardinals items so logically my potential customers may be in the St. Louis Cardinals neighborhood.
Now how do I get my products noticed in the neighborhoods? Simple. I use my blog,.
Recently I blogged about the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies NLCS games. By using the full team manes (does not matter if it is in the title of my blog entry or just in the text of the blog) eBay picks up that blog entry and adds it to the list of blog entries for the Arizona Diamondbacks neighborhood and the Colorado Rockies neighborhood.
My blog entry was about the game itself but to the right of my blog text I had put in a eBay to go widget that promoted my Diamondbacks items I currently have listed in my store.
So when all is said and done I have created blog entry that was an entry about the game, was not really pushing a product just itself, but I have an ad in the eBay blog entry for a related item to the discussion of the blog that was picked up and put into the neighborhood for me.
Also, by doing ot through the blog anyone who subscribes to my RSS feed of the blog also got that ad.
All it took was 5 minutes of my time!
