Apparently insects and especially beetles has been used by humans in primitive cultures and in what is nowadays considered bohemian arts.
one of such famous artists is Jan Fabre - famous theater director and insect collector himself, who used elytra of Jewel Beetles (Buprestidae family of Coleoptera Order) and scarabs in his many masterpieces from statues and sculptures to theatrical costume decorations. His decoration of the ceiling of the Royal Palace in Brussels Heaven of Delight is widely praised.
I think it is very inspiring to see such art expressions!

"Fabre often develops this concept of rebirth and of overcoming limitations through the images of insects that populate his imagination and work – particularly the beetle, the Egyptian symbol of the Sun god. With them, he expresses the eternal myth of transformation and regeneration in the world of nature and the human condition."

The Belgian sculptor Jan Fabre showed "Vogelverschrikker (Scarecrow)"
(1996), a scarecrow or jester, with its wire frame encrusted with beetles.
He chose beetles because the species has survived countless millennia.
Symbolizing transcendence, the beetle is frequently seen in Flemish vanitas
paintings.
