Yes, this paint will dry with a crackle finish. However, there are a few helpful tips that will help the process. The first thing you always want to do is to shake the bottle so the paint mixes. The thicker you apply the paint, the larger the cracks will be. I will say in my own personal experience, one layer just won't cut it, but you don't have to go layer crazy if you don't want to. You will develope a feel over time, what works best for you. Now, you let it dry. If you are like me you are going to want to heat set this paint to speed the process up. A low heat or even cool air works perfectly. Or, you can let it air dry. You will still get the crackle effect if you let it air dry. It's just a matter of patience, or lack there of with me :-) Once the paint is dry, why stop there? Try accenting the cracks with the distress ink pads. You can even stamp onto the crackle or use a rub-on. Try using sand paper over some of the crackles to achieve a really weathered look. Then there is always room for one of my favorite products, Glimmer Mist. Add an extra layer or color and shimmer with this great product. The possibilities are endless.
