The new hybrid clubs are a breakthrough for the average golfer.  You can swing you’re your new hybrid club just like your irons, and you can hit the ball higher and straighter than your 3- or 4-iron.  Now you can put your worries aside about swinging those hard to hit long irons and hit the fairways with confidence.

You may be asking yourself before you buy this club how do you sing and/or hit this club?  It is simple.  Make the same motion you would with your long irons and just make contact with the ball.  You may have the urge to put the ball in the front of your stance (towards your left foot if you are right handed), like a fairway wood, but this club is no different than swinging your irons. That means playing the ball slightly forward in your stance, or just past the middle, directly below the logo on your shirt, and using your normal grip, stance and posture. You want to be relaxed at address, because there is no need to press with these clubs.   These clubs are easy to swing, and there is no need to grip them to death with anxiety like you would a fairway wood.

Take the club back low and make a smooth, comfortable turn.  On the downswing, don't think of hitting down sharply on the ball. You want to make more of a sweeping-type swing, hitting down on the ball very slightly.  If you follow this motion, you will see that your ball is now cruising smoothly in the air.  It is important to remember to swing easy, at about 80 percent of your effort for a normal shot.   Let the club do the work, and soon enough, you will be hitting the fairways with pinpoint accuracy.

Hybrid degrees  =    Iron Recommendation

14-16 degrees   =    1-iron - (This club is rarely used today) or take out your 3/5 wood

17-19 degrees   =    2-iron - Useful off your tee shot and long fairway

20-22 degrees   =    3-iron - This hybrid gets rid of that hard to hit 3-iron

23-25 degrees   =    4-iron - The hybrid will give you a higher launch

26-28 degrees   =    5-iron - If the 5-iron is a so so club for you, go with this switch
