Lots of times we buy too much candy, so here are some tips for keeping it fresh and edible!
Store all your treats and candy in a sealed, airtight container. Candies should be stored in their original wrappers if possible. Put the container in a cool dark place that will stay dry.
Do not mix treats that absorb moisture with treats that lose moisture. Candies like mints, caramels, and hard candy will absorb moisture, while candies like fudge and creamy treats will lose moisture. If you store candies like these in the same place, then the moisture candies will become sticky.
Do not freeze candy. Only hard candy and chocolate should be frozen. But don't freeze the chocolate if it has fruits or nuts in it. Frozen candies can lose taste and have a grainy texture.
If you have to store hard candy that isn't wrapped, sprinkle a teaspoon of granulated sugar over the candy. Then put it in an airtight container and store in a cool dark dry place. The sugar will absorb the moisture so the candy doesn't get sticky.
