COACH CARLY GUIDE

(Part 1 of 2)

NOTE: THIS GUIDE DOES NOT COVER THE NEW SLIM CARLY HANDBAGS!

Let me give you a few quick hints for the CARLY style bag from COACH like styles #10615 and #10616.  I own a few different fabrics, colors and sizes of COACH CARLY's as well as some other COACH styles.   I do not yet have examples of the Slim Carly in my Guides. 

I also visit the COACH store every quarter, just to see what the new styles are like as well as get the latest Catalogs via mail.  I hate to see people being scammed on ebay by these Sellers.

What to look for:

1.  Look at the strap on the CARLY handbag(for Medium and Large sizes).  IF it DOES NOT have 4 brass rivets on the piece that slides along the top shoulder strap it is a FAKE.  Look at the Shape of the sliding Leather strap support, if it is a perfect rectangle or very long.  It is a FAKE.  See my Guide pictures.

FAKE Coach Carly straps MAY also show 4 rivets!!  Real Coach Carly's will never have rivets shown on the underside of the strap. FAKE with off-centered stitching.

2. If the side turnlock Closure on the CARLY bag has the COACH name stamped.  It is a FAKE. The Shape of the turnlock is wrong. The real handbags do not have coach stamped under the turnlock details on the side OR dogleash clip. This is a picture of a FAKE. [RECENT UPDATE] I have seen a couple of FAKES with real looking turnlocks TOO SHINY but FAKE and with a FAKE Creed.  Look at the bottom studs if they are Very Rounded it is a FAKE.

3. For signature CARLY handbags.  The pattern is the LARGE CC and will line up in the middle of the bag.  There should be 4 C's that cross the bag from left to right.  If the pattern is smaller and uses more than 4 C's or is NOT CENTERED it is a FAKE.

4. The interior COACH Creed tag should be TAN Leather in the GOLD/SIGNATURE/KHAKI Carly's. THE GOLD CARLY's are SOLD OUT. If you see it as GOLD CREED Patch, the bag is FAKE OR BLACK it is FAKE from 2007 Coach Collection.  As a general rule for the 2007 Collection, the same color Leather on the strap or underside of the Leather Shoulder strap, should be the same as the Coach Creed interior patch.  However on the newer collection of Carly's(NOT THE SLIM's) may not follow this rule. Please look closely at the Creed detail and Hardware for authenticity.

The zipper is also wrong and should be a leather pull. I have seen the FAKE GOLD CARLY with the FAKE Rectangular Strap in an eBay Auction several times! BEWARE.  All zippers usually have YKK stamped on the side but Coach changes the zippers for the different issue years. FAKE Carly with the Gold Creed Patch from actual Auction.

5. Signature Carly's will NEVER have signature interior lining.  Coach does not do this ugly combination. It is a FAKE.  User with 100% feedback (400 total scores)!!! Coach does NOT cover the handles with plastic.

6. Coach dustbags are Brown with RED trim. Newer dustbags are Brown.  Dustbags are now brown satin with no red trim. Some small accessory bags are white with Red Trim. Hangtags on regular Coach bags are NOT METAL. Special Legacy and Limited Edition handbags would have special Metal Tags and special dustbags.

7.  Look at the stamp of the COACH CREED Leather patch on the interior of the bag.  Here is a picture of a FAKE(on left) vs. REAL. Note the Font and detail in the CREED telltale WHITE STITCHING FAKE.  Some FAKEs are better than others but if it not close enough to the orignal it is probably a FAKE.  LOOK AT THE CREED STAMPS LOTs of FAKES can be identified this way! 8.  Awful FAKE Carly with FAKE dustbag and FAKE lining with the word COACH throughout the lining. The strap is wrong design and the C's are not correct.

ALL Coach bags have a Coach registration number. Small Pieces will not usually have a Serial Number and are too small for a Creed patch. The first few alpha-numerics are the factory code and date  the style was produced, the last alpha-numerics are the style/model number.
