Get your money's worth when you buy an elephant hair bracelet. Make sure that it is ELEPHANT HAIR and make sure that it is good quality. Here is a simple guide to help you.
On the left is a "well made" elephant hair bracelet and on the right is a poorly made one. It is very difficult to work with elephant hair -it has to be boiled to soften it and while it is still hot it has to be moulded -once it cools it retains the shape.
The bracelet on the left has well defined knots that are tightly bound and well proportioned -the other one has uneven knots that are loosely bound. When the bracelet sits on your arm the knots should be evenly spaced.
If the knots are tightly bound they will not come loose and they do not slide loose on your arm -they hold their position -you will not be able to wear the bracelet if the knots come loose because it will slide over your hand and fall off.
Elephant hair bracelets can be worn 24/7 and do not require ANY maintenance -it is hair that comes from the wild that has been in sun and rain all the time.
HOW DO I KNOW THAT IT IS REAL?
The pictures on the left is a bracelet made from reeds and the picture on the right is a bracelet made from giraffe hair.
From the different pictures shown here you will be able to see that giraffe hair is VERY much thinner than elephant hair. The reed bracelets are very brittle and if you burn a tiny bit you will not get the smell of burning grass instead of hair.

The picture above shows an elephant hair -the average length is around 22 inches. The one end is thicker than the other end. To get a bracelet uniform in thickness the hair has to be cut and pieces of the same thickness collected to create that bracelet. Older elephants have thicker hair -the thick hair is difficult to get and that is why it is more costly. Older elephants also have white hair -this is extremely rare.
