Toy collecting is tons of fun and challenging to obtain pieces that look like they just came of the factory floor.
If you’ve bought your action figure or toy collectible from a reputable shop there should be no price tag on the plastic or card backer.
Should a price tag be on the plastic shell it should be easy to remove using warm water. Do not use hot water.
But
unfortunately many of the national chains put the price tags on the
backing card making it difficult to remove without damaging the card.
In
the case of particularly stubborn tags you could try using Goo-Gone available now in most supermarkets and hardware stores but
this must be used carefully and correctly or you will still risk
damaging the card. Some people use petroleum based products like candle lamp oil to help remove the price tags quickly and easily. Although 9 out of 10 times these type of products have no effect on the toy package it can occasionally react with the plastic causing blemishing or fading.
Vintage toys dating over 10 years old can be very tricky to remove tags as the adhesives in the tags contain chemicals which over time have had their time to work directly into the packing thus making removal not recommended. But sometimes these price tags themselves become part of the fun in collectible toy at hand. Sure you can collect every vintage toy from the original Star Wars line without a sticker but collect all of them with say...a Child World price tag. Hmmm.
