Hello fellow Ebay'er and welcome to my "How to pack & ship records without a box" guide. As a long time record seller I've used this method of packing for all my international and/or media rate mailings and it has saved me money on boxes plus I've never had a record get there broken. And you can easily fit in up to two records.

It's very simple, all you need is one Priority Mail "box" size 0-1097 and two pieces of heavy cardboard, one for the top and the other for the bottom.. For LP's they have to be either 15 by 15 inches if you staple [as you'll need space to staple in], or 13 by 13 if you tape. For 45's you need a 1095L Priority Mail "box" -- see my guide "How to pack 45 RPM records in a Priority Mail box" -- and make the cardboard 12 by 12 [staple] or eight/nine inches [tape].

Now a short lesson on cardboard. It's made out of two sheets of thick paper glued over a ridged corrugated center. To make this package strong you need to place one sheet of cardboard with the corrugation going "up and down" and the other "left to right"

First you have to 'set up' the Priority mail box. To do this you keep the box flat and fold the "flaps" over so you can stape or tape them to the outside. Note: you don't make the box into a box, you keep it flat.

I use an ARROW P-22 hand stapler....

but you can use tape.

Now wrap the record(s) in newspaper and tape it all the way around, both "up and down" and "left to right." Then slide the record into the the Priority mail 'sleeve'

Now removing the tape covering and mount the 'sleeve' in the center of one of the sheets of cardboard.

Then tape the open ends of the 'sleeve' closed.

Now place the other sheet, with the corrugation going the other way, and tape or staple all four sides. And that's it.

And don't forget to check out my other guides -- "How to pack 45 RPM records in a Priority mail box" -- "How to pack LP records in two Priority mail boxes" -- "How to pack & ship CD & DVD's without a box" and the most important one "Why ABBA, as a group, is the anti-you-know-what and should be destroyed" ... OK, that last one was a joke.
