If your looking for easy handmade ponytail accessories you can make or sell on ebay, and inside tips on locating inexpensive ribbon then read on.........
So your daughter has the perfect dress for that perfect occasion and your only problem is what to do with her hair. After many trips to the mall and scouring on-line sites I started to make my daughter her own matching ponytail holders to go with all her favorite dresses.
This isn't rocket science and anyone can do it!!!!
Instructions for Handmade Ponytai Holders:
1. Buy ribbon. (Any kind will do but grosgrain lasts the longest).
2. Buy a hair elastic. (Sold at Wal-Mart)
3. Cut your ribbon into 14 inch strips. You will need at least 6 strips to make it look full.
4. Tie the strips onto the ponytail holders (not a knot just tie).
5. Wear it!!!!
This is really really easy. You can use any ribbon, any color, any style. If you want it to last you should brush the ends with a little clear nail polish so it won't fray.
If you daughter is old enough she can make them herself, or do as a birthday party craft.
So go to Michael's or look in your craft supplies and you'll have handmade hair accessories in no time!
If you are thinking of starting a hair bow business look other places for your ribbon in bulk.
Use the manufacturer of a ribbon you like and research it. For example in the first picture above the white ribbon with the word "PRINCESS" is made by a company called Morex. A yard and a half sells for 99 cents at Michaels. Wholesale this same ribbon cost 27 cents a yard. Search google for the company website. Wrights is another website to check out. I have called and ordered directly over the phone from their outlet store and they have been very helpful. Most places do not even ask for your wholesale number because they all sell direct to the public. You will save a ton of money this way!
If you live near the Los Angeles Area I highly recommend Ribbons-Unlimited for buying your morex porducts. They have a website and I have ordered direct from them with orders under $125. Very, very helpful and worth a trip to their store. If you do not live in LA call them or email, can't say enough good things about them.
Each site will direct you to places to buy wholesale. Don't be intimidated to call and talk to them. They want your business no matter how small.
Many of you have inquired about the Disney princess ribbons below. It comes in Ariel, Belle, and the three princess set together Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White, as well as Pooh. It is sold by Wrights (a huge ribbon company). Check out there site or search for the ribbon on ebay. I know they are not making the Belle ribbon any more, but I found a little bit on ebay. This satin ribbon is quite expensive, although a huge favorite with girls under the age of six!!!
Best of Luck, Holly
Here are a couple of samples my daughter loved. Just search for ribbon that she loves and you'll have a custom boutique looking hair accessory in no time!
