How To Make a Fleece No-Sew Tie Blanket
I love this project. Tie blankets are an easy starter project, and they don't require sewing.
How much fabric do you need? Fleece is about 60 inches wide. You will need a length of about 48 inches (1.33 yards) for a child, or 2 yards for an adult. The finished blanket will be about 4-6 inches smaller than the starting dimensions, because of the knots.
With one piece of fleece:
- Lay out the fabric flat.
- Cut a 5-inch square from each corner.
- Cut fringe 1-inch wide and 5-inches deep on all sides.
- Tie a knot in each fringe
- Do this all the way around the blanket, being careful not to stretch the fabric.
With two pieces of fleece (usually one piece is a print, and one is a solid):
- Layer the two pieces of fabric, wrong sides together. Do any trimming necessary so the two pieces are the same size.
- Cut a 5-inch square from each corner, cutting through both layers of fleece.
- Cut fringe 1-inch wide and 5-inches deep on all sides, cutting through both layers of fleece.
- Using an overhand knot, tie the top and bottom fringe together.
- Do this all the way around the blanket, being careful not to stretch the fabric.
