Pinwheel Ribbon Pony-Tail Hairbow
This guide will help you to make your own pinwheel pony-tail hairbows from organza or
grosgrain ribbon. These cute bows are very easy to make and require minimal crafting skills.
Level: For Beginners
Supplies Needed:
White or Black Pony-O's
5/8" or 7/8" Nylon Organza Ribbon or Grosgrain Ribbon of choice
Scissors
Frey Check for ribbon ends
Step 1: Measure out and cut approximately 10 to15, 10" pieces of ribbon .
Step 2: Get your pony-o ready.
Step 3: Assemble your bow by:
First place one piece of the ribbon around the pony-o and tie securely twice so you have two knots on top of each other. Make sure you tie your knots tight and that you get your ribbon even on the ends.
Continue doing this around your pony-o until all of your ribbon pieces have been used up. You may need
a few more 10" ribbons or a few less depending upon the size of your pony-o.
Be sure to push your knots (ribbons) together tightly on the pony-o so that you have a full
bow when complete. Finish this step when you haven tied ribbons around the whole pony-o.
Step 4: Now you can take scissors and neatly cut each end of the ribbon ends on a 45 degree
angle for a finished look.
Step 5: Put frey check on each cut end so the ribbon does not frey.
Different variations: Use different colors and widths of ribbon for a festive and fun look. You can also
cut the ribbon ends into a V or add beads to the ends and tie...lots of fun!
There are so many ribbons in dots and stripes in organza and grosgrain the possibilities are endless!
