O.K. so here goes.I am writing this piece in attempt to ease the buying process and show you sellers how to maximize potential profits.I buy almost all of my clothing on ebay because A.I hate to pay retail B.the customer service cannot be beat(something retail outfits have lost sight of) C.I can buy products that were made w/QUALITY in mind .Having said that, it is endlessly frustrating to have to send countless emails in an attempt to get basic facts... to wit;SIZE,MATERIALandSHIPPING COSTS.Lets adress the first(and most important)issue.....Almost no one is going to bid on an item that they cannot be sure is going to fit!!Please,please,PUH-LEEESE give accurate measurments.A tape measure is available just about anywhere and last time I checked, they will sell them to anybody(HA!).For shirts ,sweaters, jackets, etc. the basic parameter is to give..armpit to armpit...top of sleeve at shoulder seam to end of cuff...base of collar to bottom hem at back of item(giving tag S,M,L,XL,XXL is also helpful BUT these designations vary wildly not only between brands but also within brands. For example, pendletons that are vintage.Older pendletons XL are smaller than newer versions in shirts, while the inverse is true for pendleton jackets. Why? Damned if I know.)Put the S,M,L etc. in your header so browsers can key in on your item then give precise measurments within the descriptive text(trust me on this ,this alone will double if not triple your items exposure). For hats....AND THIS IS CRITICAL.. give indicated tag size ie;6 1/8,7 1/4,etc. but also/or CIRCUMFERENCE in inches AROUND theINSIDE of the sweat band. Both is ideal!Vintage hats are HOT,HOT,HOT and certain varieties will command BIG dollars. However ,if you list a high end Stetson as "nice cowboy hat" you will deprive yourself of an astounding amount of potential buyers. Also,if there are a series of XXXX's on the inner band, make a point of mentioning that and indicate how many(this is an indication of the level of quality/fabric composition).Could mean the difference between 20.00 and 100.00's of dollars.frankly, i am shooting myself in the foot here,'cause I LOOOOVE buying a 700.00 hat for 20.00 but hey, fair is fair ...whatever the market will bear.Pants..inseam(crotch to cuff end)..waist(duh!)...pleat or no pleat...cuffed or hemmed(or unhemmed)....pretty simple stuff here, but you would be astounded how many listings neglect these basic facts.Truly ,how many returns to you want to deal with(not to mention eating all those shipping charges!).Don't discount the negative impact on your botttom line OR feed back ratings. Next...MATERIAL...if you can find a tag, give that info ie;70%cotton/30% poly....again,this can make a BIG difference in the price your item commands. And lastly..SHIPPING..I,ll shoot you straight ..unless the item is something that I absoloutly LUST after,I won't even bother to inquire after potential charges.I mean please! clothing is by and large fairly light, malleable(easy to fit in any container)and ebay practically throws the shipping calculator at you ...USE IT!! If I come across as a little strident on this subject, sorry, but it drives me nuts to have to wade through poorly written adverts and send innummerable requests for even the most basic info.SO be a pal, help us poor cash heavy buyers out and facilitate the passing of our disposible income into YOUR coffers.......Good luck and more power to you all..your pal... your buddy..delamar820. P.S. a hat sizing chart is available online at most any hat manufactuers website ie;resistol, stetson, etc.
