This is my guide on how I got my start on ebay with very limited funds, mere pennies...
I opened my Ebay and Pay Pal account, both free, then loaded up on all of the things in my home the baby no longer needed, plus gift items I had received, still new that I wasn't going to use. All of the other things I could find I didn't need, but were all in great shape.
By listing and selling my own items I had no out of pocket $$$ at the time. This allowed me to get a revenue going to purchase more items to sell.
Then I started going to Estate, Yard, Garage and Church Sales. I would look for items still new in the pack, like new items still in great shape, vintage items at a great bargain.
Here is a few special tips for anyone thinking on starting a new business:
1.) Do not spend much of your income for the first six months, if you need to then keep it to a bare minimum. The reason for this is you will need these funds to grow your business and purchase more items. You can't make a go of it by having to live on your profit for at least the six month growth period.
2.) Think outside the box!!! By this I mean think of how you would be treated if you were the customer buying your item. Would this make an impression, catch my eye, or be a great experience that I would be a repeat customer? Always treat your customers with kindness and respect as you would want to be treated.
3.) Do not oversell!!! Meaning list and sell your item, it will sell itself if that is what the shopper is looking for. Start your price fair for you so that you are not paying someone to take it, but also fair to a prospecting customer. No one likes surprises when it comes to their hard earned cash. List any shipping and handling fees you may have right in your listing. Keep this as low as possible if any. This will help you purchase your shipping supplies. Ebay as well as USPS have free shipping boxes you can order. You will mainly just need to purchase shipping tape. You can always use newspapers as protection in the package.
