Installing a brush roll on your Filter Queen Majestic vacuum is relatively easy, and here are a few tips to make the process easy and effective.
The following installation instructions are appropriate for all Filter Queen models except for models using a geared belt/brush roll.

If your Filter Queen has additional screws holding on the top cover, remove those as well. (see Fig 1)

2. Turn power nozzle over, remove the top cover, then remove the belt. It is recommended to remove the light bulb as well (if you have one), to avoid breaking it during further steps.
3. Turn power nozzle over, and remove old roller brush, including end caps. Discard old brush roll and ends, belt, and dirt seals.
4. Attach new dirt seals to roller brush, paying close attention to how the dirt seals fit into the power nozzle.
5. Slip belt over brush roll pulley.
6. In this step, you will be placing the entire assembly into the power nozzle.
Each bearing end of the brush roll has two positions, a flat side (see Fig 2),

and a side with two "bumps" (see Fig 3).

Install your new brush roll assembly, with both bearing ends showing the "bumps" side.
(see Fig 4,5)
In a few years, as your brush roll wears, you can flip these bearing ends around ("bumps" down) to extend the bristles and the life of the brush roll.

6. Check that your dirt seals fit into their holders correctly, and both bearing ends are in the same position.
(If they are not, your brush roll will not contact the carpet evenly, and you will burn belts faster)(see Fig 6)

7. Flip nozzle over, and stretch the belt onto the motor post. Spin the brushroll with your fingers, so
that the belt centers on the motor post and the brush roll pulley. (see Fig 7)

8. Remove any dust, dirt, hair, or debris that is visible in the power nozzle motor area..
Replace the bulb and top cover. Turn unit over, replacing bottom plate and top cover screws.
9. Take care not to over tighten screws, hand tighten with a philips screw driver.
10. Test your power nozzle, it is common with new dirt seals and brush rolls to have a bit of a burning smell.
The smell should disappear quickly, if it does not, re-check the positioning of the bearing ends and dirt seals.
I have provided some photos of this procedure to assist with assembly. Your nozzle may look a bit different if you own a Princess, Optima, Empress, or a European Majestic. The basic steps and precautions however are the same.
