I have been selling bags on Ebay for a while and just like you I am always looking for a bargain. So far Ebay has been a pleasant experience but unfortunately sometimes we do not get what we paid for; and is that frustrating?. There are many counterfeit bags on Ebay specially Juicy Couture bags. I am a bag fanatic and I have purchased several Coach & Juicy bags. I have acquired some knowledge and I would like to share it with you. I am no expert but I can give you some pointers that will benefit you when making your purchase.

1. Rule of thumb, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. A Juicy Couture Dog Carrier does not retail for less than $130, so what makes you think you can get an authentic for less than $100. Same principle applies to diaper bags .

2. Do your homework. Google the bag you are looking to purchase and look at pictures from high-end department stores so you know what the item looks like and what it retails for.

3. Stay away from one day auctions. The longer the item is for sale the more bids it will get with that said; why would you list a handbag for only 24 hours?

4. Be cognizant of sellers with excessive amount of designer items. Designer handbags are expensive and both Juicy Couture and Coach regulate their prices and do not sell at wholesale or independent sellers.

5. Smell the handbag, seriously. What makes both Juicy and Coach handbags expensive is the leather. If the bag does not smell or looks like leather is probably a counterfeit. Both Juicy Couture and Coach use leather or suede trim on their bags, not pleather or plastic.

6. Stay away from listings that only have pictures from a website. If there is nothing wrong with the handbag there should not be a reason why there are no actual pictures of the bag. What are you trying to hide?

7. Look at the zipper. Coach bags only include YKK zippers.

8. Look for the authenticity tag. Coach bags have a serial number stamped on the creed located on the back inner wall of the bag. Juicy Couture bags usually have a serial number sticker inside the pink Juicy Couture inner tag.

9. Read the sellers feedback. Sellers with feedback from buyers claiming handbags were fake or unauthentic should always be avoided.

10. Ask the seller questions. As a potential buyer you are entitled to ask as many questions as you would like. If the seller claims he or she bought the bags at wholesale they are lying. Neither Juicy Couture or Coach sell to independent sellers.

11. Do not buy bags from overseas. Why buying bags from knockoff central? Canada is known for selling tons of counterfeit Juicy Couture merchandise so is China.

12. Do not purchase bags that have clear plastic wrapping around the handles and hardware. Juicy does not use clear plastic or poly bags to wrap their items. Both Juicy and Coach only use tissue around their handles and hardware. If you spot a handbag with clear plastic around the handles is definitely fake.

13. Do not purchase a Juicy Couture carrier that comes with a dustbag. Juicy Couture carriers do not come with a dustbag. You will come across many carriers on Ebay that come with a light blue dustbag. Stay away from them, they are definitely fake.

14. Stay away from auctions that start at $50. I personally start my items at .99 because the lower the starting price the lower the Ebay fees. Plus I have noticed that starting at .99 encourages more buyers to bid, that does not mean I bought the handbag for .99. However, if you find a Juicy Couture that starts at $50, most likely means that the bag is a replica and was bought at that price. Most of the Juicy Couture counterfeits are sold for just $50. I have never paid $50 for a brand new with tags authentic Juicy Couture bag.

15. Stay away from older models. It usually takes scammers time to catch up with the newer models. The most duplicated Juicy bag is the Daydreamer with the Scottie Dogs logo on the front. Coach's Patchwork and Poppy bags are very popular as well.

STAY AWAY FROM JUICY COUTURE DIAPER BAGS WITH THE SCOTTIE DOGS ON THE FRONT. JUICY COUTURE HAS NOT PRODUCE THAT PARTICULAR MODEL IN OVER TWO YEARS.

16. Coach handbags with prints never have a Signature Coach (C) lining. Coach bags that have prints on the outside (Signature, Patchwork, Gallery, Scribble) have solid color linings. Coach Signature Jacquard bags have SOLID COLORED LININGS ONLY.

17. If in doubt, do not buy and help your Ebay community by reporting fakes to Ebay.

Some examples of fake bags:

Juicy Couture Daydreamer Knockoff: As you can tell it looks very cheap and once again the clear plastic around the handles gives it away.

Juicy Couture Quilted Knockoff:  leather bags are harder to identify on pictures but once again the handles wrapped in plastic and the stitching gives it away.

Terry Baby Diaper Bag Knockoff : handles are wrapped in plastic and it looks cheap. You will find hundreds of these listed on Ebay.

Examples of authentic Juicy Couture and Coach serial numbers:

Coach Creed: The numbers after the first letter indicate the year the bag was made and the number following the dash indicate the style number. For example, the white creed below reads as:

No L0649-10464 (meaning bag was made on 2006 and the syle number is 10464)

I found this atrocity recently on Ebay,  see the plastic.

Websites such as techtraders.ca are infamous for selling tons of high-end designer knockoffs claiming that they are authentic. You might want to checkout the website so you have an idea of what the handbag replicas look like and you will be astonished when you see how many of them are listed on Ebay.
