If you have a Twinhead Slimnote:
Windows 2000 and Windows XP drivers do not exist, but the Windows 98 drivers will work with Windows 2000 and XP. Download and install the Windows 98 drivers from Twinhead's site.
The reason that the sound does not work is that the drivers are not set properly by default. There is a setting that you have to play with to set the speakers to either digital or analog. By default the setting is set to autosense and that seems to be the problem.
I found this out several years ago, and posted it in Google newsgroups. I am re-posting the information here for anyone with a Twinhead Slimnote, and below is the step by step guide:

- Go into Control Panel, select System, then get into your Device Manager .
- Look on the list near the bottom for one of the options that says Sound Video and Game Controllers and expand it.
- Now look for something on that list that says Creative SB AudioPCI WDM right click it and select Properties.
- Look for the Settings tab in the new window that has opened up from the previous step and select it.
- Look for the Settings Configuration section in the middle which should have a drop down box that says Autosense in it, change that to Analog.
BTW, you can also upgrade the cpu to a mobile Pentium III up to 1.0 GHz for the Micro-PGA2 socket Slimnotes.
