So you won that Vintage leather handbag you have been wanting, huh? Let me guess, it wasn't what you thought, right? Or maybe it has begun to age and it looks dreary or drabby. Let me help you. After bidding on and winning many, many designer handbags, I have got the answer. You will need to get a few items and keep them stocked in your cabinet.
1. Mink Oil.: This is an inexpensive product sold in the shoe section at Wal-Mart. It is in a flat, metal container and it has a creamy texture. It is perfect to condition Dooney and Bourke, Coach and Brighton Handbags. The leather recieves the Mink Oil well and it will not clog the pores of the leather. DO NOT use baby oil, vaseline or petroleum based products. These products do clog the pores of the leather, preventing it from being able to "breathe". These products may stain your leather, thus ruining it.
2. Coach conditioner/cleaner: This is a more expensive alternative to conditioning your handbags. It is available online at the coach website. w w w . COACH . C O M
3. Brasso: This is sold in the cleaning product isle at Wal-Mart. I like to apply brasso on my brass hardware with a paintbrush. BE CAREFUL! Brasso can leave a white substance that is very hard to remove from leather. If you do get the brasso on the leather, follow this procedure. Apply olive oil and rub very aggressively.
4. Febreze: This product works wonders on smokey or smelly Handbags from ebay. Saturate the leather and store in a plastic bag for 24-48 hours, repeat as necessary.
5. Spray and wash: This works nice on the sueded interior that has been soiled from handling. Spray on a cloth and rub vigorously.
While I can't promise these techniques will be the best for your handbags, they have really helped me with most of mine.
