Little boys do not like to sit still for very long, so when it comes to cutting their hair, you've got to be quick and efficient! Even a beginner can do a decent job, using these helpful tips.

Things You’ll Need:
one little boy, preferably rested and not too soon after a sweet snack!
hair clippers with guides
plastic cape or old bedsheet
Step 1:
 Secure the cape comfortably around the boy's neck to protect his clothes, then attach the #2 guide onto the clippers. (I like the Wahl Peanut clippers because they are so lightweight and easy to use.)

Step 2:
 Tilt the boy's head down, and cut against the hair growth on his crown.

Step 3:
 Continue with the #2 guide to the sides and back. You are not concerned with style right now, but only to get all the hair cut uniformly.

Step 4:
 Next, remove the #2 guide and replace it with the #1. Cut behind and over the ears. This is when it becomes important that the boy sit still! Tell him you will do your very best not to cut off his ear, but he can help by staring straight ahead and not moving a muscle! ;-)

Step 5:
 There is a natural line on the boy's head that runs backwards from his temple, dipping down to the back of the head at the bottom of the occipital bone (the round at the back of his head). As you cut upwards toward that line on the sides and back, curl the clippers up and out to blend the shorter hair with the longer on top.

Step 6:
 All done! Make sure you praise him lavishly for being such a big boy, and if you made any promises (or threats), be sure to follow through. :o)
