The first thing you should always do is clean your jewelry! You never know who or what touched it before you.

The best way to clean jewelry is to use antibacterial soap and water. you can also boil your jewelry but only boil jewelry that is totally steel (no batteries or acrylic)

DO NOT USE ALCOHOL or anything similar since it can ruin your jewelry (it can melt your acrylic jewelry!)may also discolor it!

be careful with gold items as they can easily tarnish in alcohol or peroxides. If your gold item does tarnish (sometimes the barbells will turn a black tarnish if worn in mouth) you can take it to your local jeweler to have it cleaned.Remember to clean it again before it goes back into your piercing!!
