Bluetooth GPS Receiver is convenient and portable. In order to able to read your position on the map, you need to have following equipment:

1. Bluetooth GPS Receiver with chipset such as SiRF Star III

2. PDA, Pocket PC, Cell Phone or Laptop (Must be bluetooth equipped)

3. Digital map of your location or country. There are many types of digital map such as ROUTE 66, MAPTECH. And these maps come in different versions for different OS - Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Windows XP etc. It depends on what kind of gadget you are using.

You are all set for the portable GPS system. What about the subscription fee? Do we have to pay for the satellites reception? The answer is NO! That is the most comforting answer. As long as you have the GPS receiver, and the digital map for your location (anywhere in the world), you are not going to get lost.

So how about the reception ability and the durability of the GPS receiver? There are several specifications you may want to take a look at before putting your money on the table. Turst me, when it comes to life-saving situation, you don't want to settle for less:

1. Chipset: This is the brain of the GPS receiver. The most advance chipset for civilian usage is so called SiRF Star III

2. Channels: The more channel  you get, the better reception you can have.

3. Start up time: The less the Hot Start time, the better instance location monitoring you can get.

4. Operation hours: Most of the GSP receiver has built-in Lithium Ion battery. Some of the GPS receiver even comes with charger for 12V car cigaratte lighter plug. Which is most convenience when you are on the road.

5. What kind of company (brande name) that makes the GPS receiver? You don't want some no name companies making GPS receiver and getting terrible reception whenever you are urgently in need of the location. Company such as EMTAC has been manufacturing GPS receiver for years, and they are one of the pioneer introducing the Bluetooth GPS Receiver.
