When it comes to foundation less is more because you want to get a natural look, not a think layered mask look. You don't want your skin to look mask-like. Foundation is ment to even out your skin tone. If your complexion is fairly even go for a lighter coverage. If your skin tone is not even, go for fuller coverage.
Then according to your skin type, choose the type of foundation: liquid, cream or powder.
If your skin type is normal/combination, then any kind of foundation will work for you. Choose the one you're more comfortable with
If your skin type is oily you may want to go with the powder foundation or you can put liquid foundation and then apply pressed or loose powder over it and it'll work well too, because the powder can absorb the excess oil in your skin.
If your skin type is dry, then choose a cream or liquid foundation with a moisturizing formula.Avoid powder foundations as they tend to look pasty on drier skin
If you kin type is sensitive, stay as light as possible..and away from talc, oil, and fragrance. A mineral foundation is your best choice.
For normal to combination skin, you can try Avon Personal Match Cream to Powder foundation
To select your shade, determine your skin tone level: Light, Medium, or Deep. Could be anything in between
