Is this you??  Many buyers on Ebay are looking to buy their children's first LEGO bricks, and they want to make sure they are getting the right pieces and a good mix that their kids will have fun with.  Used bulk LEGO on Ebay is a great way to get a good mix of all kinds of LEGO bricks from different themes and sets.

How much $$$ ?

There's about 300 LEGO pieces to the pound, and a typical one-box building set from the toy-store might have 150 pieces and go for about $15. Or NEW retail price, put in terms of dollars per pound, $30 to $60 per pound. That's the power of Ebay, because you can get them on Ebay for roughly $8 to $10 per pound, used.

How Many LEGO Bricks?

5 pound LEGO lots are a tremendous amount of Legos and I wouldn't recommend it for a starter set unless your child has played with LEGO before and you know they will enjoy it.  To start with, smaller quantities of partial pounds, 1-pounds, 2-pounds mixes etc. would be recommended.

Beyond Bulk LEGO- Let's Talk Accessories

One of the key things to include for kids is the minifigures- the little LEGO action figure guys who make it all fun. You can buy miscellaneous minifigs in bulk 10 or 20 at a time or get some of the character-based ones like Star Wars or Harry Potter.  If possible look for lots on Ebay that include the minifigures with some mixed bulk- better bang for your buck that way.

Also look for baseplates, foundations or large thick platforms.  These make great foundations for the creations your kids will come up with- buildings, roads, space-ship launchpads.

Here's to getting started with LEGO!  And you get to play with them too!!
