It is confusing now more than ever to buy a GPS! They range from $100 to more than $1000. My average GPS sale is in the $450-700 range.
My best advice is to first look at the MFR, their history, their customer service and warranty repair department. This is a major investment so always make sure you are covered. You deserve the best coverage, protection and service. It is no secret that Garmin is one of the best out there. My online store sells more than a million a year in Garmin products and I had less than 7 returns last year, that is not many considering how many were sold! Garmin stood behind each return and replaced them.
Most of the MFR sites including Garmin have all of their automotive GPS systems on one page. With Garmin you can check a box of each one and compare them side by side. I highly recommend doing this before you purchase a GPS to help you understand features and how they work, as well as pricing. It will help you narrow your search.
Make sure you really understand how a GPS works before you buy. I also suggest you call around your local area to electronic stores to see if they have the GPS systems on display in the demo mode, as they don't do you any good to just see them in the box! So go play with one, put in an address, pair it with your bluetooth phone if it has the blutooth feature so you can see and hear how it works. Make sure it is what you want before you buy it.
Go to google.com and type in GPS Reviews. Read up on the pros and cons of each model.... cnet.com is a great place to read GPS reviews.
Once you own a GPS you will save alot of gas and alot of time!! Enjoy! :) Jude
